The theme of this photographic series is on journey and identity. This series explores how hair can inform a person’s identity rather than solely focusing on facial characteristics and portraiture to identify someone. Hair presentation is an art within itself as it can be used to make political statements (like the afro in the 1960s) creative statements, cultural statements, fashion statements and more. In a less abstract sense hairstyles age along with the person and can serve as a showcase of transformation within the person for which it is attached. This series tries to capture that transformative journey/ discovery. This series utilizes various lighting and camera focuses which help to make the hair the focal point of the series. Design elements and editing tools used are cropping and color enhancing to make the hair the main focus and showcase the various transitions.
